The Capricorn Coast is the area of coastline around Rockhampton and named after the Tropic of Capricorn which runs through Rockhampton. The Capricorn Coast eguide covers both the coastal area and inland areas as far inland as Carnarvon Gorge. Offshore lie the southern islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Inland the Great Dividing Range rises from the plains. Mining and gem fields cover the inland areas.
