The Capricorn Coast is the area of coastline around Rockhampton and named after the Tropic of Capricorn which runs through Rockhampton. Some of the other main towns are Yeppoon, Gladstone and Emu Park.
The Capricorn Coast eguide covers both the coastal area and inland areas as far inland as Carnarvon Gorge. Offshore lie the southern islands of the Great Barrier Reef including Great Keppell Island.
Inland the Great Dividing Range rises from the plains. Mining and gem fields cover the inland areas and explored from Emerald.
The area has a number of national parks and we list all those in the wider area including Carnarvon Gorge which is well inland from the Capricorn Coast but a very popular destination.
